Open-Ear Headphones OEM Guide
The fastest OEM project is not the one with the quickest quote. It is the one that removes ambiguity before artwork, production, and compliance decisions become expensive.
Short answer: A reliable open-ear headphone OEM process has six gates: commercial brief, platform shortlist, sample approval, customization freeze, market-specific compliance review, and pre-shipment QC. Treat MOQ as one project variable—not proof of factory capability or total landed cost.
The six-stage OEM workflow
1. Define the commercial brief
State the product format, destination market, target retail position, expected quantity, must-have features, customization scope, and delivery window. A unit-price request without these inputs is not yet a usable RFQ.
2. Shortlist an existing platform
Start from a production-ready model when speed and inventory risk matter. Compare chipset, battery, playtime test condition, protection rating, weight, controls, microphone, accessories, and current documentation.
3. Approve physical samples
Test fit, audio, leakage, controls, calls, charging, connection stability, and the intended use environment. Record the approved hardware and firmware version; do not approve from a rendering alone.
4. Freeze customization
Confirm logo method and location, color reference, manual languages, labels, barcode, gift box, accessories, carton marks, and artwork revision. Structural, acoustic, firmware, or tooling changes belong in a separate ODM scope.
5. Confirm market compliance
Match the exact product configuration to its destination market before production. Existing reports can be evidence inputs, but they do not automatically transfer every legal responsibility to a new brand or modified product.
6. Set QC and shipment gates
Define the approved sample, inspection plan, defect classification, functional checks, packaging checks, evidence format, and release authority before the factory finishes the order.
What to include in an open-ear headphone RFQ
A useful RFQ lets a supplier separate fixed requirements from preferences. Send the same brief to every shortlisted supplier so quotations remain comparable.

MOQ: ready model, private label, or ODM?
PEAKSONIC’s current catalog lists standard MOQ by model: many existing platforms begin at 100 units, while the Air G6 lists 1,000 units. Those are model-specific catalog values, not a universal market benchmark. Logo, color, packaging, component changes, and certification work can each create a different minimum.
- Ready model: existing hardware with standard presentation; best for early validation.
- Private label: existing platform with approved brand and packaging changes.
- ODM development: mechanical, acoustic, electronic, firmware, or tooling changes with separate engineering gates.

Compliance is configuration- and market-specific
For EU radio equipment, the Radio Equipment Directive covers safety and health, electromagnetic compatibility, and efficient spectrum use. The European Commission states that CE marking follows testing and the applicable conformity assessment; it is not an EU safety approval badge. For the United States, the responsible party and authorization path depend on the equipment and configuration.

- Which factory and production line will make this exact model?
- Which specifications are catalog values, and under what test conditions?
- What changes trigger new tooling, firmware work, testing, or MOQ?
- Which reports and declarations match the exact configuration and destination?
- How is the golden sample identified and controlled?
- What checks happen in-process and before shipment?
